Lace Weight Yarns, Classified as [ 0 ]
Lace weight yarn is the finest and lightest category of yarn, classified as “0” on the Craft Yarn Council’s scale. It typically measures between 30-40 wraps per inch (WPI).
This type of yarn is often used for delicate projects like lace shawls and intricate doilies due to its fine texture and lightweight nature. Ideal for wedding accessories, special very formal events, to christening gowns.
This very thin yarn is usually knit very loosely using a US#4 through #8, depending on the individual pattern. Ideal for crochet too. Crochet will also crochet very stunning and formal accessories. While crochet produces a thicker fabric, this yarn is so thin, that the gossamer effect is not lost. Whether it is knit, crochet, knitted lace or crocheted lace, all items still are light weight and moves on the slightest breeze.
