These unique needles provide both a sharp, accurate tip, and a blunt tip. One end is sharp and the other end blunt.  It is 2 needle points in one.  If the blunt end struggles to get through your stitch, flip over to the sharp end.   If the sharp end is splitting your stitches, flip over to the blunt end. 

Double point needles allow you to work lace and other fine detail stitches on a small circumference.  The smooth aluminum finish is a different color on each needle, which can help knitters keep track of more complicated projects.
